The PTA sponsors a School Directory each fall — available to families both as a smartphone app as well as a printed booklet — listing contact information for each child, organized by classroom. A Directory Registration Form is included in your child’s first day packet of school information. A separate form must be completed for each child, every year, before your family information can be listed in the School Directory. If you do not have a form, you may pick one up or request one from the school office. For two household families, the directory will list both households as long as the information for both is provided on the form. Each family messenger will receive one copy of the printed booklet directory via Kid Mail in the Fall. Additional copies may be purchased in the office.
All incoming kindergarten families and new families will receive a hard copy of our Family Handbook. For returning families, the Family Handbook can be accessed below. If you would like a hard-copy, additional copies may be purchased in the office.
Each year, the PTA coordinates individual and class pictures for all students. Students will bring home a picture order envelope listing the prices of the different packages in their first day packet. Retakes of individual pictures are taken approximately six weeks later. All students will be photographed for school records, and will receive a free class photo regardless of whether you order.
The PTA produces a yearbook, complete with a portrait of each Laurelhurst student and a variety of candid photos. The yearbook is a special way to commemorate your student’s school year. Parents must complete a form for each student, giving permission to include that student’s picture in the yearbook. These forms are found in the first day packets (green). Watch for yearbook order forms in the spring.

How would it feel to arrive at school feeling the pain of hunger every Monday morning? Would it surprise you to know that this is a reality for thousands of SPS students? Our PTA has teamed up with Backpack Brigade and Food for Schools to help students and families in our own community with this weekend meal support program. Every month for the 2016/17 school year, each grade will take responsibility of filling our food donations bin (located in the main entrance of the school) or collecting money donations. For $5, the backpack program can provide up to 5 healthy meals, snacks, juice and shelf stable milk to each student in need.
