More portables at Laurelhurst?

To the Parent Community at Laurelhurst:

The PTA Board would like you to take a quick minute to share your thoughts on a requested change by Seattle Public Schools (SPS) to our school buildings and our open space. SPS is requesting a permanent increase in lot coverage at our school from 35% to 45%, for the purpose of placing up to four additional portables on the current playgrounds. This request is to be reviewed by a committee of neighbors and parents formed by the City of Seattle’s Department of Neighborhoods, who will recommend to the city whether or not to grant this request. PUBLIC MEETING – MARCH 17th at 6:30 pm – Laurelhurst Elementary Auditorium


The public committee meeting for the district’s departure request has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 17th at 6:30 pm in the school lunchroom. All community members are welcome and encouraged to attend and speak at this meeting. This may be the community’s only chance to become informed and voice opinions.

The PTA’s stated purpose is “to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for children.” The results of this survey will help inform the PTA Board of our school community’s opinion on this issue as we advocate together for our students and school.
