This program seeks to promote a love for reading at Laurelhurst through a series of school-wide literary activities. Examples of activities include: book mark contests, teacher-guided reading lists, and student book report displays. Literacy Month culminates with an evening celebration featuring a community book swap and a presentation of student work from our Writers in the Schools (WITS) program.
Due to the pandemic, there will not be a book swap or evening celebration for 2021. Students will track minutes of reading on calendars posted on SeeSaw beginning March 1st. At the end of March, students who participate will receive a cool prize.
