School Picture Day for both class and individual photos will be on Thursday, October 22nd. Picture Day was originally scheduled for Sept. 17th, but since that ended up being the first day of school, it was rescheduled to what was to be Retake Day. The order forms saying Sept. 17th were included in each student’s first week packets. Many of you have already sent in your order forms.  Order forms already submitted are safely stored in the office, to hold and give to teachers on picture day.

  • Schedule any overdue haircuts, and reschedule any appointments that might make your child miss being included in their class photo.
  • Everyone will be photographed for the student database regardless of whether you choose to purchase a portrait package.
  • A FREE class group photo will be given to EVERY child, regardless of whether you purchase a portrait package.
  • If you didn’t receive or have misplaced the order form, the package options and the order form can be sent to you electronically. Email [email protected] to get them in a reply email.

News from the PTA

DIRECT GIVE: Matching Monday, (Tomorrow!) Oct. 12th
We only have one Direct Give per year, so it’s important that we all contribute what we can. 100% of your donation supports Math, Science, Reading, Art, Music and Technology programs provided by the PTA for our kids at Laurelhurst. Remember, we don’t ask the kids to go around selling wrapping paper or cookie dough–this is the easiest way possible for us to secure the PTA funding we need right away. This is the last and FINAL week!
Online donations encouraged!

2016 PTA Auction: Additional Volunteers Needed

Planning for Auction 2016 has already begun! The Auction Committee has an immediate need to fill a few key positions. We are looking for TWO Data Chairs and TWO – THREE creative and driven people to work on the Procurement Team.

We need everyone’s help to support the school’s largest fundraiser of the year. The auction raises 70% of the school’s PTA budget, and it takes each and everyone of us to raise these funds. Being involved in the auction not only supports our kids, but it’s a fun way to meet new friends.

If you are interested on working on the auction, there are other fun jobs still available. Contact Bev Kelleher:[email protected]com
Mark Your Calendars!
The PTA Auction will be Friday, March 18th 2016, at Husky Stadium,

Volunteer to Welcome New Families
Laurelhurst PTA is launching a program to welcome new families to our school and community. The “Welcome” program will connect new families with volunteer parents who can help with questions, make introductions, and otherwise get started at a new school. If you are a new family to our school, or one that “knows the ropes” and would be willing to spend some time helping a new family, let us know!

As part of the welcome team you would be a family’s contact for questions regarding the school and its activities.  This would entail a few phone calls and acting as their point person for questions.  Whatever time you can contribute will be appreciated!!

Contact Caren Gillespie at [email protected] and provide grade/teacher and age of your child/children.
